It all started with a love for Chesapeake's.  When I was a kid my family had a Chesapeake.  Betsy was a wonderful part of the family.  She was with my brother and I every step of the way.  In fact she even saved our lives once or twice.  Most of all she was always there and always loved us.

After Betsy past away I went a few years with out a Chesapeake in my life it made me really appreciate them more.  I was about 14 and was wanting a dog to hunt with.  My dad said he know of a guy in a close by town that had Chesapeake's.  So we called and he didn't have any pups at the time.  But he had a 2 year old that he was working with for field trials that wasn't working out so good.  His style of training had been a little to much pressure for her and she didn't want to do a thing for him.  We said we would come and take a look.  So my dad and I went off to see her.  I can remember now driving up into that drive and hearing the barking of chesses.  Once you know the bark you can tell it from a mile away its like music.  We got out, he said if you can make her do anything you can have her.  He let her out she ran right over to me I was down on my knees and she licked me on the face.  The guy handed me a dummy and said give it a toss.  I asked what is the dogs name.  CHUBBERS.  I said Chubbers sit and she did.  I throw the dummy and she sat there and waited for me to tell her to get it.  I sent her off she got it and came back a perfect heal.  She looked in my eyes I looked in hers and it was love.

From that time on Chubbers and I were never apart.  We hunted everything that moves.  But mostly ducks and geese I counted one time that she hand over 1000 retrieves with just duck and goose hunting.  And ever one I was more excited to watch her work then about getting the fowl.  She was and still is the fuel for my passion for chesapeakes.  Thanks Chubbers!
